This memorial museum commemorates the life of Dr. Shibasaburo Kitasato, a bacteriologist from Oguni Town, Kumamoto Prefecture, who is known as the “father of modern Japanese medicine”, and spreads his achievements to future generations. Part of Dr. Kitasato’s birthplace, a guest house built to entertain guests, and the library “Kitasato Bunko” donated by Dr. Kitasato for his children are preserved on the grounds and can be toured. .
